As nerdy as this sounds, once I go home for the summer and I have access to my books, I might write an essay about how Harmony isn’t a “delusional” ship and justify it. Maybe. If I get angry enough in the summer. I will. I know it is already endgame, but I HATE it when people say that it was a stupid/delusional/incest-like ship. It was there.
And HONESTLY. The ship war HAS ended. I don’t know WHY people continue to bash it. Let us continue to be on our “delusional” merry way. We’re not hurting you, your opinion, or the outcome of the story. Ship Ron and Hermione ALL YOU WANT. Know that it was how the story ended. You HAVE YOUR HAPPY ENDING. Know that when you read anything about Harry and Hermione “being together” that in the end, they weren’t. But when you make a jab at Harry and Hermione and how it is a stupid pairing; that’s just stupid this late into the game. You’re still trying to rub it in our faces that we were not end game. Thank you for telling us something we all already know.
And I honestly think and believe who we ship together is the type of relationship that we want. If you ship Ron and Hermione you want a relationship where there will be somebody to balance out your extremes. You want somebody funny to your smart. And other reasons I don’t really understand. If you ship Harry and Hermione you want an understanding relationship where it is started on deep and trusting friendship. Where you know that no matter what, you have a person that will always understand what you are going through.
So in the end, I don’t think ANY ship is delusional, its just a representation of what WE want. I know part of the reason why I take such offense when people bash on Harry and Hermione because I know I want my future relationship to be like theirs. Something so deep and trusting that no words need to be said between us to explain our feelings.
